OK so why make models out of matches?

When I was about 18 and a bit, I was living in a pub called 'The
Albion Hotel' in Arnside, England. One of our customers ( I forget his
name) brought us a model of the pub he had made out of matches. It
was awesome. We put it on display behind the bar in a prominent
position. Ever since then I suppose that I had a secret desire to try to
make something out of matches. So when I was trawling Ebay last
year I came across a kit for a 1908 Tramcar kit with matches, so I
bought it and took over the dining table for 3 months while I built it.

I am now totally hooked, and have started to build from scratch.

This is my basic
workspace - just a
small desk in our
office.
You should be able to
see the plan
underneath the
matches. The plan is
underneath a clear
acetate sheet on
which I stick the
matches.
A glass sheet doesn't
work as the glue
sticks to it too well!
The comlpeted
section of model
peels off the Acetate
when dried.
Note the Toenail
clippers - used to
cut the matches at
an angle.
